Sara: Day 25

Our plan to avoid the rain worked! Well, sort of. It did rain on us just a bit in the last 10 miles of our 77 mile ride from Bastrop to Navasota, but the vast majority of the ride was dry, so we were happy and productive riders.

Today’s route was all highway riding and, unfortunately, there was a lot of traffic and not much to look at other than cows, though I do like the cows. The first 20 miles out of Bastrop were particularly harrowing with heavy traffic and no shoulder, but the road drastically improved once we got through Giddings.

It felt good to have my riding partner and traffic cop back today. I can tell he’s feeling better – making wise-cracks, beating me up hills, and harassing animals. Tomorrow we have a long ride into Livingston, followed by a long drive back to Kerrville, so it’s early to bed.

Just 4 days left in Texas!

Rocking our safety yellow all day, every day
