Sara: Day 13

Turns out we got another day in New Mexico and more opportunities to eat hatch chilies, this time in hummus and tamales. My dad has been sick for several days now and felt particularly crummy last night. Considering this is our last big town for a while, we decided to take the day off, visit a clinic, load up on meds, and get some rest.

He, of course, feels terrible about the delay, but I welcomed it. My ankle has been bothering me since the start of the trip and it was really hurting (and squeaking?) at the end of yesterday’s ride. A day off the foot and a chance to ice certainly didn’t do me any harm. It also gave me a chance to cross some things off my giant ‘to do’ list since the evenings haven’t been as productive as I’d planned.

All in all, my dad got the treatment he needed, is feeling better, and it turned out to be a pretty good day. I, on the other hand, think I feel a sore throat coming on…

Chili's!
