We were in no particular hurry to leave El Centro. It
had nothing to do with last evening’s dust storm, or the intense heat still
lingering well into the evening. Our
objective for the day was to pick up Sara from the airport at 4:00pm, and it
was a 3 hour drive between El Centro and San Diego.
We arrived in town around 11:00am and spent the next hour walking around the neighborhood of the Courtyard Inn in Old Town SD. Little did we know that it was a tourist destination? We did manage to find a cozy eatery called the “Hungry Kitchen.” After lunch we strolled back to the hotel to check in.

While driving to San Diego, Susan texted our former Columbus
next door neighbor who had moved to San Diego last year. She called with no
notice and it just happened that all of the Lynch family was home. We arranged
to meet them at one o’clock at a coffee house near their home. It was a good
reunion. We had lots of news to catch up on and the time evaporated. We had to
leave before we wanted to in order to pick up Sara at the airport. She, Sara,
had arrived half-hour earlier than expected and so she was waiting for us when
we showed up. This evening the three of us ate our first meal together at an
Old Town landmark, Miguel’s. I could recommend the restaurant unconditionally.
